Proceduralist-Directed Rapid On-Site Pathologic Evaluation (ROPE) Using Dynamic Cell Imaging

This study explored the use of a new technology, Dynamic Cell Imaging (DCI), for rapid onsite evaluation of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) during robotic bronchoscopy. Researchers compared the proceduralist's assessment using DCI with a pathologist's diagnosis. They found an 88% concordance at the patient level and 84% overall, with cryobiopsy showing the highest agreement at 88% and forceps biopsy at 86%. This suggests DCI can enhance confidence in obtaining diagnostic samples during procedures. Future research may further assess DCI's impact on diagnostic yields and its role in target localization for bronchoscopy treatments.
