CellTivity DCI Enables Real-Time Lesion Assessment: New Study Presented at RAB Symposium
Weston, MA – CellTivity Scientific, a leader in real-time biopsy assessment technology, today announced that Dr. Ismael Matus of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute will present findings from a new prospective study evaluating Dynamic Cell Imaging(DCI) during robotic bronchoscopy at the 2025 Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy(RAB) Symposium on June 12.
The study, titled “Proceduralist-Directed Rapid On-Site Pathologic Evaluation (ROPE) Using Dynamic Cell Imaging: A Pilot Study of Peripheral Pulmonary Lesion Sampling via Robotic Bronchoscopy”, assessed DCI using the Van Gogh™ Microscopy System for real-time tissue adequacy in 50patients with peripheral pulmonary lesions.
Key Results Include:
- 88% concordance at the patient level between proceduralist DCI reads and final pathology
- 84% concordance across 146 individual biopsies
- Highest concordance rates with cryobiopsy (88%) and forceps biopsy (86%)
- DCI enabled immediate lesional vs. non-lesional assessment, improving procedural confidence and supporting intra-procedural decision-making
“These findings reinforce the potential of Dynamic Cell Imaging to empower physicians with real-time insight during bronchoscopy,” said Greg Bowles, CEO and President of CellTivity. “By helping identify lesional tissue during the procedure, DCI could improve diagnostic yield and guide future bronchoscopic therapies.”
This pilot study represents a significant step in the clinical validation of DCI for on-site pathology support, particularly in settings where rapid onsite evaluation (ROSE) is not readily available.
About CellTivity Scientific
CellTivity Scientific is advancing the standard of care in tissue diagnostics through real-time, metabolic assessment of biopsy samples. The Van Gogh™ Microscopy System uses Dynamic Cell Imaging (DCI), an advanced computational imaging algorithm that quantifies cellular metabolic activity in real time. By capturing and overlaying dynamic cellular motion on traditional morphology, DCI provides proceduralists with immediate insight into suspicions for malignancy, enabling confident decisions without compromising tissue for downstream testing.
