Proceduralist-Directed Rapid On-Site Pathologic Evaluation (ROPE) using Dynamic Cell Imaging- a Pilot Study of Peripheral Pulmonary Lesion sampling via Robotic Bronchoscopy

This pilot study evaluated the efficacy of Proceduralist-Directed Rapid On-Site Pathologic Evaluation (ROPE) using the VanGogh™ Dynamic Cell Imaging (DCI) system. The study assessed 146 biopsy samples from 50 patients undergoing robotic bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions. Results showed a high concordance rate between the proceduralist's immediate DCI interpretation and the final pathologist's diagnosis—88% at the patient level and 84% across all biopsies. The findings suggest that DCI can significantly enhance intraprocedural confidence in obtaining diagnostic tissue, particularly when using cryobiopsy and forceps techniques.
